It’s that time of year again! The Nature Connection is excited to announce that on Saturday December 3rd, we will be offering our annual Wilder Ski Share! This is when local families can check out cross country ski equipment for the whole season! Perfect for growing children or a family who wants to try out the trails in our community.
The goal for this program is to help kids and families in Delta County and Olathe recreate and stay healthy during the winter. Cross country skis, boots and poles are available for $25/kid and $75/adult. Season return will take place in mid-March.
Gear fitting and check out will take place on Saturday, December 3rd from 10am-5pm at the Nature Connection, 397 Miners Way in Hotchkiss. Click here to reserve a time!
Some updates for the 2022-23 season:
- Due to incredible demand… we are taking reservations to hold your “spot in line.” Click here to reserve a time slot to be fitted and pick up gear. Reservations can be made starting at 10am and we recommend selecting an early slot to ensure we have gear for your whole family.
- For liability purposes and to give priority to local families, season lending ($25/child, $75/adult) is available for families with children attending school in Delta County or Olathe (including home schools.) For a complete list, click here and search ‘Our Schools’. Staff members of the listed schools (plus Olathe EM, MS, HS) and their families are also included in the event.
- The general public including out-of-town guests and family are invited to utilize our “Holiday Lending” which has much greater availability. The Holiday Lending event will take place on Friday Dec. 16th with returns Jan. 5th-6th. The $20/kid and $40/adult price is well below market rental prices and is a fundraiser for our kids programming.
- We ask you to remember that we are a not-for-profit program of the Delta County School District and not a “ski rental shop.” We lend our skis as a community service and fundraiser. We count on our skis getting returned on time so we can continue to offer school programs. If equipment is not returned on-time, we must charge a $25/day late fee to ensure we have sufficient equipment for programs.
