During this experience, trainees will receive 50 hours of training which will cover:
- Stand up paddle
- River rescue
- And much more
Training locations include Western Slope SUP, Crawford State Park, The Gunnison River, The Colorado River and the North Fork of the Gunnison River. This training includes an overnight trip on the Colorado River. Upon completion of this training, trainees will be eligible to receive a Colorado River Guide License and will also be eligible for hire with Western Slope SUP.
After training, trainees will be required to provide 30 hours of unpaid labor to Western Slope SUP. This labor can include guiding river trips, rental shop work, or shuttle driving. Once this obligation has been satisfied, the work experience will be complete.
Upon completion of work experience, trainee’s deposit will be refunded and they will be eligible for hire by Western Slope SUP.

- Available for all training dates
- $250 deposit (refunded upon completion of internship)
- CPR/First Aid certification (class available through Western Slope SUP)
