Water Sports (SUP) Instructor Job 2023

Summary: Cool off this summer as a Water Sports Instructor for the Nature Connection! If you like SUP’ing (and even if you have never done it, but enjoy outdoor adventures), consider applying to this position. You will be in charge of all our water sports activities for the Nature Connection. This includes supporting our SUP Community Pop-Up Days at Sweitzer and Crawford State Parks, checking in and out gear to community members at Sweitzer Lake; and giving instructional support when needed. This position will also help teach SUP basics to kids in summer camps. To prepare for this job, you will be mentored and trained by professional river guides from Western Slope SUP. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the outdoors and wants to build career skills toward river guiding and outfitting!

Qualifications: Enthusiasm to be outdoors on the water and to help kids get outside; current high school student ages 16+; has reliable transportation.

High School students under 16 are encouraged to apply and may be selected to be a Water Sports Intern. Intern will work a reduced schedule and may be eligible for a paid stipend each week.

Location: The Nature Connection HQ in Hotchkiss, Bill Heddles Rec Center, Sweitzer and Crawford State Parks and other Delta County activity locations 

Pathways Opportunity: 1-2 positions available; Applications due March 31st.

Commitments: May 30th through August 11th. Required training weekend during April (TBD.) Wilderness first aid and outdoor safety training provided May 30th-June 2nd . This position will work primarily on the weekends (Fri-Sun.) Possibility to extend position part-time Aug. 12th- end of September. 

Paid Job: $13.65-$15.00/hour.   Free outdoor gear use during internship (SUP, mountain bikes, camping equipment.)
