Need some October Break Plans?! Nature Connection Need some October Break Plans?! Nature Connection and Delta Recreation @deltacityrec are co-hosting a three-day camp during October break: Tuesday October 10 - Thursday, October 12. Outdoor Survival Week will be a three day event for youth ages 9-15 years held at River Bend Park in North Delta. Each participant will leave with knowledge about outdoor survival and a survival pack of their own. Thursday we will spend a day exploring our backyard National Forest and head up to Grand Mesa for a hike to enjoy the beautiful Fall foliage. While there, we will learn some basic orienteering skills, including how to read a map and use a compass.⁠

Join the Nature Connection, @deltacityrec and the Join the Nature Connection, @deltacityrec and the Black Canyon Astronomical Society for an evening of star gazing! 💫Wednesday October 11th, 7:30-11pm, Confluence Park, 440 N Palmer Street, Delta. We will be set up at the parking lot by the boat ramp and bike pump tracks. 🌠Free to all! ⁠It will be school break, so let the kids stay up late and look at the stars 🤩⁠

Nature Connection staff and volunteers spent the d Nature Connection staff and volunteers spent the day at Lost Lake Campground with North Fork Valley 4th graders for the USFS annual Every Kid Outdoor event last Friday! 
Nature Connection led a station on bluebirds that included building a bluebird box that students took back to school with them. Can’t wait to see if they’ll have any bluebird neighbors next spring 🐣

The Nature Connection will host Community Climbing The Nature Connection will host Community Climbing Nights at the Cedaredge Middle School Gym, every Monday from 5-7pm, starting after Fall Break on Monday October 16th.⁠

Bring your whole family to try out rock climbing on a beginner-friendly wall. No experience is necessary and instruction will be provided. ⁠

New this year! Community Climb Bus will pick up middle schoolers and older. Meet at the Hotchkiss K-8 at 4pm; bus returns at 7:45pm.⁠

The suggestion donation is $5 per session or 5 punch cards available for $20. Fee waivers/scholarships are available to any family who needs it.. please ask!⁠

Many hands sure made for light work and the trail is complete! Join the Nature Connection, @westernslopecenter, @deltacounty1, and other community organizations to celebrate the trail re-opening this Friday, September 22, from 2-3pm for a ribbon cutting celebration (refreshments provided!). ⁠

Nature Connection Staff took a field trip to Shava Nature Connection Staff took a field trip to Shavano Valley petroglyphs with the @uteindianmuseum to scout out potential programming for summer '24. Highly recommend the tour and museum! Kellie was an amazing guide and we learned so much about Ute/Nuche history and culture, both past and present. ⁠
Cy Hassell (he/him) is a brand new AmeriCorps memb Cy Hassell (he/him) is a brand new AmeriCorps member and @generationwildcolorado Outdoor Educator serving with the Nature Connection. He will be leading our "Learn to Bike", supporting cross country "Skis for Kids" programs, and running our teacher gear lending. He is a Colorado native who loves skateboarding, snowboarding, disc golfing, tubing the river, hiking, biking and camping. He also loves music, and has his Associate's Degree in Audio Production. He is thrilled to share his appreciation for nature and the outdoors this year!⁠
