Camp Counselor Internship

Summary: Do you want to be outside this summer assisting kids ages 7-14 with fun activities involving nature and the outdoors? Interns will help supervise campers while teaching games and activities under the supervision of Summer Program Leads – whether it’s SUP’ing on the lake, rock climbing, mountain biking, archery or swimming. Individuals who enjoy working with kids outside are highly encouraged to apply! We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic team members who enjoy working with kids. Experience with outdoor activities is helpful, but not required. 

Responsibilities: 

-Learn and conduct important daily functions of an outdoor summer camp

-Work with Summer Leads to set-up, supervise and take-down daily activities

-Learn how to safely use and teach about outdoor gear and equipment 

-Help promote outdoor opportunities within the community and on social media

 

Internship Locations

  • Cedaredge Middle School 845 SE Deer Creek Dr, Cedaredge, CO 81413
  • Bill Heddles Recreation Center 531 Palmer Street Delta, CO 81416
  • The Nature Connection Hub 397 Bulldog Street Hotchkiss, CO 81419

 

Pathways Opportunity: 2 openings in Delta, 2 openings in Hotchkiss, 1 opening in Cedaredge (5 total)

Paid Internship: ~$250-$350 week stipend depending on experience and hours completed;

9 week internship from June 1st through mid-August. Free outdoor gear use during internship (SUP, mountain bikes, camping equipment.) *Cedaredge camp is 4 weeks total from June 7th- through July 1st. Cedaredge interns have the option to apply for The Nature Connection Backpacking Internship positions for a longer internship period.*

Qualifications: Current high school student (under 18); reliable transportation to/from camp locations
