
Summary: Learn the essentials of maintaining and repairing mountain bikes (MTBs) and build technical job skills this summer. Nature Connection Bike Techs will fix flats, inspect, clean and tune-up our fleet of over 100 bikes. And the joy of learning continues in the field at the Nature Connection’s summer camps! Interact with summer campers while building confidence in the world of bike maintenance and coaching. As part of this experience, you will be mentored by professional bike technicians from SK Bikes in Paonia so you can build your skills throughout the summer (and into the school year if you choose!) This is a great pathway to becoming a bike technician or bike coach.
Responsibilities:
- Daily tasks include all things bikes: cleaning, upkeep and fixing flat tires.
- Complete pre/post-program gear check-ins and keep equipment rooms well-organized
- Play a key role in helping coach and teach bike safety during our summer camps throughout the community
- Assist Summer Camp Leaders in equipment transport to and from program locations
Internship Location: The Nature Connection Headquarters, 397 Miners Way Hotchkiss
Pathways Opportunity: 2 available internships; Applications due March 31st.
Paid Internship: $13.65-$15.00/week stipend depending on experience and hours completed; 9 week internship from June 1st through mid-August. Free outdoor gear use during internship (SUP, mountain bikes, camping equipment.). Wilderness First Aid and outdoor safety training provided May 30th-June 2nd
Qualifications: Enthusiasm to work on bikes; High school student (recent grads OK if under 18); reliable transportation to/from camp locations including Hotchkiss and Delta.
