The mission of The Nature Connection is to inspire our communities to connect to nature. We promote healthy lifestyles through educational, fun and energized outdoor experiences.

The Nature Connection is the hub of environmental education for Delta County and Olathe, and is supported by the Delta County School District. Our program began in 2018 and is supported by Great Outdoors Colorado and its Inspire Initiative program.

We are in the process of developing recreational installations throughout the region, and launching summer camps and internships in Hotchkiss, Cedaredge, Delta and Olathe.

Generation Wild was created by Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) to reconnect kids with nature and help them to experience the incredible benefits that are right outside the front door.

One of our GenWild Initiatives is to create “Places” where our communities can engage with the outdoors. So far, we have installed climbing boulders at all elementary schools, bicycle trails and a pump track, seating areas, StoryWalks™ and more.
