The Nature Connection is dedicated to eliminating barriers to the outdoors for youth and families in our community, Delta County and Olathe.
Through surveys and discussions with community members we have identified three ways to break down the barriers to getting outside: develop a rich array of year round Outdoor Programs for kids and families to build confidence and skills; create new Places close to communities and schools where kids, families and teachers can enjoy access to outdoor activities and programs, and offer job Pathways so that youth in our community can become the next generation of land stewards.

We envision a future where every child in our community can access trails and outdoor learning opportunities directly from their school yards. So far we’ve worked with GOCO and our coalition partners to invest close to $2 million to build connecting trails, climbing boulders, outdoor classrooms and more!
Pathways prepare local youth in our community for jobs in the emerging outdoor economy. We partner with agencies, local businesses and innovative funders to create summer jobs, training opportunities and internships for high school students that provide real-world work experience.
